Nadia's Fresh Dance Moves FINAL

well this is my final piece what i was trying to portray was to show the beauty of the cook islands and also to show the type of dancing we do and how gracefully we are. the reason why i did silhouette is because i am a very shy person that doesn't like to perform in front of people and cameras so  i figured out a way to express my feelings without showing my identity.

In my video i tried to make it look calm by using cross fade and different views to capture my movements also i choose this song because it has a meaningful story behind it.

what went well is that it was to long and it went with the song so using rhythmic technique.

and showing images from the islands gave that tropical beautiful in site of what it looks like .

what i could of done was have more footage and edited it more to the whole song but next time i could do that.

Shigeyuki Kihara -Taualuga the Last Dance

this is an artist that did a documentary on a traditional dance that was used in samoa to show how gracefully her moves are to this song and also how she follows her actions. another thing is that by using a dark room with having a light coming from the side gave a effect that made you just focus on the person that is performing and the story she is telling. Not only that this performance is a mid shot through out the whole time so you could see her whole body.

nadz experiment

Another experiment that i did trying was to use the effects that i was shown. what went well was the opacity of the image of the islands looked good on top of my dancing in silhouette .

also how it fades in and onto the next

what went bad was that i didn't know how to start off my video and also my dancing didn't really go with the song.

what i could do next is that have a different song and also have more meaning to it.

experiment

This is an experimenting with the lighting. what i was trying to do was have a strong lighting from behind so that i could get a clear image/shadow

what went wrong was that there wasn't  enough lights at the back and also i stood far from the sheet .

also the camera handling wasn't good as well because it was quite blurred and to much movement.

Jasper James

interesting silhouette idea from artist jasper james, dont think i could reach this look but silhouette is my aim.

Katu- Roimata noou

Ive used this song because it goes with the actions that I've done in my sort film

also because it is a very meaningful song in the cooks

Images of two cook island groups performing .
Cook island dancing is one of the main attraction that we have to entertain foreign people but also to keep our culture alive. Also their is a lot of creativity that is put into it with the actions , making of the costumes also the music to have an end result of a great performance.

15 ISLANDZ

This is a song that i like because it talks about the cook islands  and tells people that their are 15 islands all in one .

also it is an easy song to move to .

cook island drumming .

this video here shows one of the drum beats that many cook-islanders use in their performances that is really intense but exciting because of the technique that is use and how talented our poly people can drum using tradition drums that they have created.

Fakateretere

Cultural dancing is relevant to my theme because its who i am and this is a cultural slow dance that tells the story through the lyrics of the song and the actions of the dancers .

this is a song that shows the beauty of all Polynesian people.

the dancers are moving gracefully as the song.

Also to make it sound and look unique are the musicians with their talented voices.

Beautiful shots of silhouettes in action that is amazing but captures a lot of skills of different shapes that can be held .
what i like about this is that its fascinating to look at because you wonder what they are trying to show because everything tells a story .

Silhouette Music Video

Silhouette is used in many ways for example this music video .

in the olden days people used it as an entertainment for puppets for they had no tv and the use to put on shows for young children .

what i enjoy about this is that its in black and white , not only that how i can relate it to my work is that i dont like to be seen when im performing  so it is a good wat to hide my identity but good to express myself infront of people without them knowing

I also like how the lighting makes a big difference behind the people so that you get a clear shadow

silhouette

This is a performance using silhouette that is performed by a group that is basically using a creative way to tell a story .

what this story is about is to lovers that meet and fall in love and would want to spend their life together and have a future but however it shows a tragedy that they go through losing a loved one in war.

I could tell buy watching the movements of the shadows and having a song in the background  that portray what they are trying to get across.

what i like about this is that it has meaning and also expression because of how gracefully the performers have come about.

Research

This is a video clips has a lot of rhythmic relations and a lot of cuts that went along the song.
it is captivating because of the music but also having the right moves to go along.
why i like this because it had many shots in it like CU TS full body also coming from different angles.

MOU PIRI action song research

This video is really simple all its doing is recording? with no effects .
also this is more of a documentary type of video that is just really showing you the dance of this action song.
this can be used in the community to teach you how  dance to   this song and follow it because its easy for their are no fancy effects.
the reason why i like this is because it is simple , straight to the point and you can tell what its about

MOVING IMAGE GONE WRONG

 FIRE HOSING

 PORTRAIT

Thursday, 30 April 2015

In this image it has directed light in it having the shadows in it really bold
also by looking at this you can tell that the girls are tired and coming together to talk about the game

in these two photos they a face on but the image on the left the contrast of the colour is more bold and defines the image more better than the right because the light is directly on them therefore on the right the sun is behind them .

2nd choice / experiment

This was another image that i would of done for my final experimenting of how i would have my model and having it landscape . This gives it a more lay back feeling of her thinking of what she would do next .

reason i didn't choose this image is that for me it wasn't  enough of what i wanted to show and express.

that was the only thing wrong about it for me. but however its still a good experiment .
this image was the same as the one above but in full colour . it look good in full colour but i wanted it to have more effect.
I just needed to explore a bit more.

FINAL PIECE

This is my Final piece that i have done .

The meaning behind my Piece is showing that the person in orange represents me kneeling down to tie my shoe to tell people that i am ready to work hard and play hard for what Im striving for which is that Black jersey (all backs) hence the logo in the corner and the text.

Reason of the colour Orange is because it is bright and stands out when Im on the field at Training because thats where i want to get noticed so they can watch me and select me to be in the starting team because

Having the background black and white shows that Im starting at the bottom and looking up to the sky where its light with a image of my siblings makes me wanna be a good role model and that Im driven by them also from my other family members.

Given that Vignette around the edges gives that affect for the people to focus in the middle of the image .

My subject (the girl) is in the fore ground and their is a piece of rubbish which is strapping tape breaking the pattern on the field , This can symbolise the challenges ahead of me that i will face  on my journey to reaching my goal that Im passionate about.

So what i can say is that its only the Beginning.

Game Time

In this image is close up from the boundary from where Im standing also having my subject in mid ground. also for the colour RED and GREEN compliment each other and makes the image stand out more

In this photo its showing my team mates in action but its quite blur because of the movement in the game and because of moving the camera .
The light is on point having it directly shining on them and making the image as if you were at the game .

In all these images have the same concept which is family.
the reason i have these images is that everything i do in my sport is for my family because the are what motivates me and are always behind me of being supportive .

In-depth research on CHRISTIAN THOMPSON also CONTEXT

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5MI24Jfmhc

This talks about him and his childhood as growing up in his time and also exploring thing about him self showing through his work.
He is an Australian Born in 1978

In this First image it looks to me that with the medals around his
neck shows that he was successful in a sport or a event that he has  done .

also for me its like he is embracing who he is and what he wants to be
and not ashamed that he is different.
Like hence why his skin is gold because he wants to shine and stand out
along with the his make up and  colour of the background
showing that he is feminine .

concepts that i could see is beauty , confidence and pride , also
identity.

In this image Im guessing that its to do with culture and it means him telling us through the colours and patterns that portray first nation of Australian culture not only that but shows indigenous identity , But however the feathers that he also have in his hair is from what the native american use to show a high ranking in their tribe.

so he elaborates through his life work.

Evaluating And Context about these posters

Ive been inspired by these posters because of how they get the message across about the sport of rugby

What i like abut these posters in the layout and it gives a strong affect .
Also the lettering, Text how its bold but has a statement

The first one with Richie in it shows a lot of determination in his structure/pose of his body meaning that he wants to play and be in that black jersey .
Also with clouds, the misty background and the field shows that he is coming out of darkness and running towards victory.

The second image is using a figure or person facing towards the light. To me its like him seeing the end to achieving his goal or the light could represent something that drives him of striving for the best in his passion of rugby

This is how i wanna show my passion of why i love rugby and why i do it.

EXPERIMENTING

This images shows freeze of movement in a clear view.
what Im trying to show is the way of how two of the same people in the same team
work together to stop the opponent. also capturing the intensity
what i tried to do in this image is to focus on the grass ant a low vantage (angle)  point and using DOF. what Im trying to show here is that this is where it all happens (which is on the field)
I used the same as the first image but the contrast of the colour is to strong. but the sky is how i wanted to be to get the detail of the cloud.
A meaning that i can put behind this or i like about this image in a rugby term is reaching for the ball in the sky and grabbing whats important which is the ball. Another example is taking that opportunity that is being put out there for you before its to late.

Me experimenting using selective colouring.
heading towards my final print

by using selective colouring allows me to show my subject in a better different way  to make it stand out from the background also of me wearing my rugby uniform and who i like to represent in my sporting which which is the colour of Ardmore Marist Women's rugby team

Skills

Ive selected some random images that uses Selective colouring .
What I like about this type of skill is because it shows the main subject and makes it stand out from the background.

each photo is taken differently either using blur as well .

Looking up skills and techniques

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt9MuKZGOiA
A tutorial on scrummaging with the all blacks ?

Also a image of my rugby team using similar technique in game time ??

The reason why its good to watch the link above is to make sure you are getting the skill right and to have more experience in the scrum because its for your safety but also to make your team strong and over powering to when you are using it in game time

also this image shows my team in the stripes that is carefully entering the scrum and looking up to see what is going on and you can see the structure that they are using by heir body language

Evaluating A Capturing image

This is a random image that captured my attention portray's what i want to show in my work??
which is passion , dominance , commitment, pride.
also so this in a female perspective.

what i like about this is that is black and white it makes this image look powerful but feminine.
the three different poses shows fearless , skill and also humbleness
